Description
Ash is known as the King of the Woods. For centuries it has been the favoured firewood of castles, palaces and estates, where you will always find Ash copses within a short walk of the kitchen gardens. There is even a poem written to help remember which woods are best for fires and which to be avoided, helpfully called the Firewood Poem.
Ash trees are currently in crisis due to ash die back disease and every week more are being lost. There is currently a huge global effort to replant resistant varieties.
This piece belonged to a furniture maker, who reluctantly passed it on due to it's unique grain patterns. If you look closely in the photographs you will see a distinctive heart-shape, and we love it!
